Marseille: the Old Port, neighbourhoods and Mediterranean culture

Explore Marseille one neighbourhood at a time. Choose an urban or maritime focus instead of trying to cross the whole city in one outing.

Start with the Old Port

Begin with an Old Port walk, then consider the streets of Le Panier. Choose a few stops with breaks: narrow streets and slopes are best explored at a walking pace. Agree where to meet the vehicle after the pedestrian part of your visit.

Choose a cultural visit

A museum such as the Mucem can give the outing a clear cultural focus. Check current exhibitions and access arrangements. Allow a proper visit rather than treating the museum as a quick stop; admission is separate from the ground-transport quotation.

Treat the sea as a separate activity

For the Frioul Islands or a sea outing, check departure points, return sailings and weather conditions with the operator. Avoid squeezing a crossing into an already full museum day. Your chauffeur connects agreed addresses; boat tickets and sailing decisions belong to the maritime provider.
